Victim Compensation
In order to help ease the burden of costs that may be incurred by victims and their loved ones due to the result of a crime, Crime Victims Council offers assistance in filing for victims’ compensation through the Pennsylvania Victims Compensation Assistance Program.
You may be eligible if
- the crime occurred in Pennsylvania.
- the crime was reported to law enforcement OR a Protection From Abuse order (PFA) was filed, within 72 hours of the crime.
Other eligibility requirements apply.
Types of expenses that may be considered:
- Out of pocket medical expenses
- Loss of earnings
- Counseling expenses
- Funeral expenses
- Relocation expenses
- Loss of support
- Crime-scene cleanup
- Money stolen or defrauded from individuals on a fixed income, such as social security or pension
The Victims’ Compensation Program does not pay for pain and suffering or stolen/damaged property (unless needed for basic bodily functions, i.e: eye glasses, cane, wheelchair, prescription medication etc.).
